- Increased successful delivery rates of mail, saving time and money.
Background
Save the Children have been around for 100 years, working in 120 different countries across the world. They respond to emergencies and work with children and their communities to ensure they survive, learn and are protected. Save the Children New Zealand (SCNZ) focuses on the Asia Pacific region and New Zealand.
The Challenge
SCNZ is a charity and relies on donations to fund their efforts. To collect donations, SCNZ utilise both telemarketing and face-to-face agencies. SCNZ receives data about new donors from these agencies, including address information. Each agency may have a different method to obtain this data. SCNZ needs an address verification service to ensure the addresses collected are in the same format, are accurate, and are eligible for physical mailings.
Prior to using Addressfinder, SCNZ utilised another address validation provider and also had manual address entry within some of their web forms. They found that many of the addresses returned by their provider would be inaccurate. A lot of time was spent trying to decipher these addresses and the manually entered addresses. When SCNZ made the move to a cloud based system, their provider did not offer a cloud based solution and quoted a high figure to build one. They did a quick search and found that Addressfinder was a local provider that offered a cloud based solution and was much cheaper than their quoted price from their current provider - “it was a no-brainer”.
"We work with call centers and face to face agencies. Every week or so we will get a big chunk of data and addresses from them. We need to bulk verify the addresses, making sure they’re correct, because we send out a lot of mailings to them."

The Solution
Before
- Manual address entry on website
- Inaccurate addresses from previous address verification provider
- Large amount of time spent correcting addresses
- Expensive quote for a cloud based version
After
- Address autocomplete on the website
- Accurate verification of address data
- Time and money saved
- Affordable cloud based solution
The Result
SCNZ began using Addressfinder’s address verification service in 2018. They have the address autocomplete operating on their website, and they also regularly use our bulk verification tool to tidy up the addresses they receive from external agencies. SCNZ has found the address information collected through Addressfinder is extremely accurate, reliable, and well formatted.
With Addressfinder, SCNZ has saved an immense amount of time that was previously spent on correcting people’s addresses. The extra time has enabled more efficient recording of donations, receipting, and a greater focus on other important areas. There has been significantly less unsuccessfully delivered mail, which allows for quick and effective communications to their donors. SCNZ has also been able to maintain a great statement of accuracy which keeps their mailing costs low.
"The bulk verification tool is a really quick method for us to clean our address data and get it all in the same format. Addressfinder makes sending mail to our supporters a lot more simple because we know the address is accurate."
