Australia Post is requiring accurate recipient contact details on every parcel from 31 May 2026
From 31 May 2026, you will not be able to generate a label or complete an order for most Australia Post parcel products, including Parcel Post and Express Post, without providing an accurate recipient email address and/or Australian mobile number for every parcel. Australia Post requires this data to be accurate, meeting basic format requirements.

Why this is changing
Australia Post will be including Parcel Locker and Parcel Collect addresses in the Postal Address File (PAF) for the first time. These have a new address format and will be verifiable in AMAS certified providers - like Addressfinder.
Australia Post has indicated that any parcel may be redirected to the nearest Parcel Locker or Parcel Collect location if it cannot be delivered to a home address. The recipient would then be notified via SMS or email with collection details.
As a result, Australia Post will need accurate recipient contact details on every label in order for them to be able to redeliver to the Parcel Locker and Parcel Collect addresses.

What this means for businesses shipping with Australia Post
If a label cannot be generated, an order cannot be fulfilled. This applies to every parcel regardless of delivery method, home address, Parcel Locker or Parcel Collect.
What to do
At checkout
Make email and/or phone required fields in your checkout. This is the most important step and for many businesses will be enough on its own.
Add email and phone verification to those checkout fields to ensure the data captured meets Australia Post's format requirements before it reaches label printing. Addressfinder supports this via our widget, APIs and many of our integrations.
Autofill and third party checkout data
Autofilled data, ShopPay and other third party checkout tools can bypass field-level validation. Verify address, email and phone data after checkout to ensure formatting issues don't prevent labels from being generated and orders from being fulfilled.
Verifying within your systems
If you are verifying address, email and phone data within or between your internal systems, Addressfinder's email and phone verification APIs allow you to validate data at any point in your workflow, whether that's on ingestion, before it's passed to another system, or as part of a regular data quality process.
Updating existing records
Ensure existing records meet the new Australia Post requirements. Verify address, email and phone data in bulk to avoid issues when generating labels.
If you use a third party logistics provider
Check with your 3PL that they are collecting and passing accurate recipient contact details through to Australia Post as part of their label printing process.
If you are a third party logistics provider
Ensure your customers are aware of the new requirements and are capturing email and/or phone at the point of order. Consider adding email and phone verification into your own process to ensure labels can be generated and deliveries can be made without issue.
