Australia Post is making changes that affect how businesses collect and verify customer contact details at checkout. Read our full breakdown
Parcel Locker and Parcel Collect addresses in the PAF
Australia Post is adding 4,000+ Parcel Locker and Parcel Collect addresses to the Postal Address File (PAF). Addressfinder will make these available by default once we receive them in August as part of our regular monthly update.
If you currently exclude PO Box type addresses from being returned in the Addressfinder search results, Parcel Locker and Parcel Collect addresses will also be excluded. No changes required. More on this to come.
New contact detail requirements
From August, Australia Post is requiring every parcel label to include a valid email and Australian mobile number for tracking and redelivery.
To help customers get ready for this, we have built email and phone verification lite and made it free on all active plans. This makes it easy to collect the contact details needed for Australia Post deliveries without having to build your own validation process.
Email and phone verification lite
Email and phone verification lite are now available on all active Addressfinder paid plans at no additional cost. Built specifically for Australia Post's requirements, our lite email and phone services perform format-only checks for when speed is the priority and full verification isn't required.
The lite services can be used on any online form when collecting emails or phone number.
Email verification lite
Instantly checks that an email address is correctly formatted with the expected syntax. It performs:
- Syntax check: confirms the email address is correctly formatted, with a valid username, @ symbol and domain with a recognised suffix such as .com, .org or .net
Phone verification lite
Instantly checks that a phone number is correctly formatted, falls within Australian mobile number ranges and confirms it is a mobile number. It performs:
- Syntax check: confirms the phone number meets valid format and structure requirements
- Range check: confirms the number falls within expected Australian mobile number ranges and prefix (04/+614/00614), returning whether it is a mobile number
Both services are highly configurable. Set rules to warn, block or allow inputs based on your requirements. For example:

APIs
Our lite services use the existing email and phone verification APIs with these specific parameters.
- Email verification lite: features=format
- Phone verification lite: verifyFormatOnly=true
Lite mode requires these parameters. If they're not set, your request runs as standard verification and a lookup is charged from your plan.

Plugin
WooCommerce, BigCommerce and HubSpot
If you're using one of our plugins, lite verification can be added without rebuilding your integration. Configuration is handled through your existing plugin setup.
